Phantom Robot to go to War

Ukraine to send robot to fight Russians

Unveils robot built on the lessons war

Ukraine unveiled its Phantom Robot on Monday with the hopes that it will soon see action in its conflict with Russia. It operates wirelessly and resembles a small tank. Firepower includes a machine gun, anti-tank weapons, and a grenade launcher.

It gets its mobility from either a six-wheel tire assembly or a half-track system. It can carry supplies and the wounded and fight beside small units of soldiers. The armed ground robot has many design features based on hard lessons with war with Russia.

Phantom designed from hard lessons of war

With Russia engaging in sophisticated electronic warfare, Ukraine weapons designers have taken experiences from soldiers along with Russian artifacts gathered from locals affected by war and integrated countermeasures into the Phantom.

Russia has waged electronic warfare on Ukraine, jamming communications and confusing information for Ukrainian troops. To counteract, the Phantom has a backup microwave communication link that can be used when Russian electronics jams their systems. If electronic warfare completely knocks the Phantoms wireless out, it can go mechanical with 400 feet of cable steering.
