US robot Eagle Prime defeats Kuratus
Showdown entertaining flawed
Well, if giant robot fighting was illegal, then both robots involved in Tuesday nights battle of the bots would have been arrested for assault with murderous intent.
The two year in the making giant robot challenge between USA and Japan finally happened.
Eagle Prime, the 16-foot robot from the USA, was declared the winner after using its giant chainsaw to chew the hands and fingers off its Japanese opponent.
But not before Kuratus, the losing robot had a shot at another opponent, Iron Glory, Megabot's other metal warrior. This one ended quickly as Kuratus accelerated straight ahead, quarter ton fist extended, and planted it directly in the center of the US robot's chest. The running blow knocked Iron Glory over on its back, shaking up the two American pilots inside.
Featured battle, set destroyed, flying drones, robot mayhem
Then it was on to the featured battle. It was a slow endeavor but still quite the spectacle. The battle started with Eagle Prime unloading cannon into the midsection of Kuratus but to little effect. Kuratas countered with a flying drone that the Americans swatted and destroyed.
From that point, the two robots charged each other, mixing it up with their weapons flailing like massive meat grinders. During a period of three official stoppages, the US bot used its cannons to puncture, scrape, and claw at Kuratus. For a moment it got truly dangerous as the compartment door of the Japanese robot wedged slightly open in the melee.
Finally, Eagle Prime went to work on Kuratas, filleting the Japanese robot's extremities like a bad piece of sushi with its Paul Bunyon size chainsaw. The contest was stopped when Kuratus couldn't continue. The first of its kind battle, presented in a WWE style broadcast, may turn into a real fighting league. Part WWE, part Monster trucks, and giant robots? Who needs the NFL?
