Two years in the making, two robot companies, one from the US and the other from Japan, will engage in one on one melee combat this Tuesday night to determine which countries robotics is superior.

In one corner, from Japan:

Weighing 6.5 tons. Standing 13 feet tall. Kuratas from Suidobashi Heavy Industries. One pilot. Piloted by company founder Kogoro Kurata.

In the other corner, from the United States of America:

Weighing 12 tons. Standing 16 feet tall. Eagle Prime from Megabots. Two pilots. Piloted by company founders Matt Oehrlein and Gui Cavalcanti.

Megabots challenged its Japanese robot counterpart to battle two years ago. Suidobashi accepted but added the fighting must contain hand to hand combat. From there, the stage was set. The fight will air Tuesday, October 17 on Megabots Twitch channel and reair on Facebook and Twitter.

The Eagle Prime is a $2.5 million robot with a 430 horsepower V8 engine. It took some crowdfunding in its later development to the tune of half a million dollars to upgrade it to full killing machine capabilities.
